10.0.0.1 is a class A address with default subnet mask 255.0.0.0, used for setting up private networks. 10.0.0.1 is often called default gateway address, as it is used to login into Xfinity router admin settings.

There are many different types of IP address like 192.168.1.1 , 192.168.0.1 , 10.0.0.0.1, and 10.1.10.1 that cater to different purposes.

How to Login into 10.0.0.1?

  1. Open any web browser and visit https://10.0.0.1/
  2. Press enter and you will see the admin login page
  3. Enter the default username and password given on your router
  4. Go to the router settings and functions that give you access to control and make changes.
  5. Head to the network tab and you can setup the network with many different methods such as Dial-Up connection or DSL method.
  6. Enter the default username and password to change and setup the DNS. (By default the DNS is 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 given by Google)
  7. If your router has the feature to select the type of wireless function then select WPA or WPE as it ensures your router is safe.

If your router uses 10.0.0.2 as default gateway for wireless and Wifi Connections. Then follow the link to know your router’s 10.0.0.2 login username and password.

FAQs and Common Issues

Users face a lot of issues when accessing 10.0.0.1 login page, like IP address not working or not loading. Administrators can encounter several issues like below:

#1 10.0.0.1 refused to connect: If you are not able to connect to the 10.0.0.1 then it could be because there exists no device which uses 10.0.0.1 as it’s default gateway . You can use the command prompt CMD on windows and see if any device in your network uses 10.0.0.1, you should be using the ping command. To get a positive result, there should be a device active in your local network to get the ping.
#2 10.0.0.1 took too long to respond: There are often problems with the router itself due to prolonged usage and frequent power failures. In such a case, you need to check your hardware.

#3 Trying to login to my admin panel for Xfinity. Shows the wrong SSID and logs me into someone else’s network. Comcast can’t help. What to do? The issue arises due to Comcast using a single line split into 20 different areas. The best way to solve this is to:

  1. Disable the wifi on your device.
  2. Connect your PC/laptop directly with an ethernet cable.
  3. Type the router’s default IP address(Can be found by using IPconfig command in windows/MAC)
  4. Now change the IP address. Ex: Your router may be involved in an IP address conflict so better change it. If it was 10.0.0.1 earlier, now change to 10.0.0.2
