2wire is a brand now owned by Arris International Plc. They were one of the best manufacturers of routers that gave you great speeds in a network and could be used to modify the communication between devices using a basic router setup that anyone can do.
In this post, we talk about the 2wire router setup and how you can log in to the router and setup basic configuration.
Prerequisites: You will require the 2wire router and internet enabled system where you can access a web browser.
Steps to Setup 2wire Router:
Step 1: Open your local web browser and type the following IP address 192.168.1.254 in the URL bar and press enter.
Step 2: Click on the wireless option and you will see the 2wire login page where you have to enter the credentials username and password.
PS: There are many 2 wire router models like 1000sw and 1000s. Try the following username /password combination. If none of these work, let us know the model in the comment section and we will find it out for you.
- Username: none / none/ NOLOGIN / (leave blank)
- Password: none / NOLOGIN/ NOLOGIN / NOLOGIN/ admin
From our results, we found the username and password combination none/none worked in 70% of the cases.
Step 3: Upon entering the correct credentials, Click on the option “Enable Wireless Interface”. Check the box.
Step 4: Change the SSID (Service Set Identifier) which is the name of the network visible in wifi options. Use a name that is not personal and is different from the default router name.
Step 5: Uncheck the option “SSID Broadcast” to keep your wireless connection hidden in the network.
Step 6: Check the option “Wireless Security” and choose the option WPA2-PSK in the option “Authentication Type”. By default, you may see the option WPA-PSK but the current industry standard is WPA2-PSK.
Step 7: Check the option “Use Customer Wireless Security Key”
Step 8: Enter the key that you see in “Use Customer Wireless Security Key”
Step 9: Save the settings
