Arris International Plc. produces many promising routers. One of those is the 2Wire router model that boasts great speeds and a network performance ideal for many homes and small workspaces. This router could be used to modify the communication between devices using a basic router setup that anyone can do.
In this post, we will talk about the set-up process of the 2Wire router, how you can log in to the device, and how to perform the basic configurations.
Prerequisite:
An internet-enabled system where you can access a web browser.
How to Set Up the 2Wire Router
Step 1: Open your local web browser. Type the following IP address 192.168.1.254 in the URL bar and press enter.
Step 2: Click on the wireless option and you will see the 2Wire login page where you have to enter the username and password. There are many 2Wire router models like the 1000sw and 1000s.
Try the following username /password combination:
- Login Username: none / none/ NOLOGIN / (leave blank)
- Login Password: none / NOLOGIN/ NOLOGIN / NOLOGIN/ admin
Note: We found the username and password combination from our results showed that none worked in 70% of the cases.
Step 3: Upon entering the correct credentials, click on the option “Enable Wireless Interface.” Check the box.
Step 4: Change the Service Set Identifier (SSID) which is the visible name of the network in Wi-Fi options. Use a different name that is not personal from the default router name.
Step 5: Uncheck the option “SSID Broadcast” to keep your wireless connection hidden in the network.
Step 6: Check the option “Wireless Security” and select WPA2-PSK in the option “Authentication Type.” By default, you may see the option WPA-PSK but keep in mind that the current industry standard is WPA2-PSK.
Step 7: Check the option “Use Customer Wireless Security Key.”
Step 8: Enter the key that you see in “Use Customer Wireless Security Key.”
Step 9: Save the settings you just modified.
