How to setup your Orbi router?
Setting up the Orbi router is very easy. As a prerequisite, you need a computer or the Orbi App connected to the home wifi. First, let’s understand the different LED lights and their meaning
1. Power LED
- Solid Green: Power On
- Solid Amber: Router/Satellite is rebooting
- Blinking Amber: Router? Satellite is resetting to default factory settings
- Blinking Red: Firmware Corrupted
2. Router Ring LED
- Solid White: Router Booting
- When No Light: Router is operating normally and has finished booting
- Blinking White: Router Resetting to factory settings
- Blinking Amber: Router unable to connect to the internet
- Blinking Blue/Magenta: Interne Limit reached
Step 1: Connect the Ethernet cable (RJ-45) from your modem or an existing router to the Orbi Router
Step 2: Power On the Orbi router
Step 3: Press On button and see for the LED to blink
Step 4: Look if the internet LED is still
Connect to the Orbi Wifi Network
There are multiple ways in which you can connect to the Orbi Network
1. Using the Netgear Orbi App
You can download the Orbi app from the Google Play store and Apple App store. The app shall make managing the router very easy. You can also manage additional devices such as satellites, run speed test, pause the internet and set up parental control
2. Using Web Browser
You can visit the site orbilogin.net on your system or additionally you can also go to the IP address: 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1 which will open the default login page for your router. Here you need to enter the username and password. Usually, the credentials are:
- Username: admin
- Password: password
If this method doesn’t work. You should clear the cache and try the method again.
How to change Orbi Wifi System admin login details?
Step 1: Open your web browser and enter the URL http://orbilogin.com
Step 2: Enter the username and password and click on Log In
- Default Username: admin
- Default Password: password
Step 3: Go to the Advanced>Administration>Set Password.
Enter the default password and your new password.
Tips to change your password:
- Your password should have a mixture of alphanumeric characters and special characters
- Your password should be 8-16 characters long, complex yet easy to remember
Step 4: Fill all the details and click Apply.
How to login Orbi router and setup satellites?
A satellite is an additional device which you can add to the Orbi router to extend its range. To set up a satellite, follow the below steps:
Step 1: Open web browser using the system connected to Orbi router
Step 2: Enter the URL orbilogin.com to open default gateway
Step 3: Enter the login credentials:
- Default Username: username
- Default Password: password
Step 4: In the admin login page, Select Add Orbi Satellite. Now you will be displayed a “place your satellite” page
Step 5: In that page, follow the instructions to select the best place to set up your satellite
Step 6: Connect the satellite to power source and press On/Off button
Step 7: Wait until the Satellite’s ring turns Solid White, Press the Sync button on the satellite so that white color blinks
Step 8: On the web interface, click on the sync button which makes the router to sync with the satellite
Step 9: Satellite’s ring LED may emit either of the three colors: Blue, Amber, Magenta and then turn off
How to reset Orbi router?
To reset the Orbi router, you will need a sharp pointed pin like a paper clip. Remember, resetting the router will erase all the past data like username, password, SSID.
- Power On the Orbi router
- Take the paper clip and press and hold the Reset button unless the Power LED blinks Amber. If you are resetting an add-on satellite then the ring LED shall blink amber
- Your router is now set to default factory settings
