10.0.0.1 is an Xfinity router IP under the private Class A IP address range, as per the IETF and IANA’s ruling. 10.0.0.1 is the default gateway address for Xfinity router admin settings.
Apart from 10.0.0.1, there are multiple IP addresses like 192.168.1.1, 192.168.0.1, 10.0.0.0.1, and 10.1.10.1 that routers use as their default gateway.
How to Login into Comcast Xfinity Router?
- Open the browser and visit Xfinity gateway IP: https://10.0.0.1/.
- In the Login Screen, Enter the default username and password for your router.
- Go to the wireless router settings, which allow you to configure changes.
- Go to the Network tab and configure changes like the Dial-Up connection/DSL method, SSID, and Security settings.
- Enter the default username and password to change and set up the DNS. (By default, the DNS is 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 given by Google)

For routers with 10.0.0.2 as the default gateway, follow this link to know your router’s 10.0.0.2 login username and password.
FAQs and Common Issues
Here is a quick fix to the common issues which Administrators encounter:
1. 10.0.0.1 refused to connect On my Xfinity Router
Users unable to connect to the 10.0.0.1 could be because no device uses 10.0.0.1 as the default gateway. Use command prompt CMD on Windows and see if any device in your network uses 10.0.0.1. You should be using the ping command.
For MAC users, you may use the ping command in the terminal. There should be a device active in your local network to get the ping to get a definite result.
2. Comcast Default Gateway IP “10.0.0.1” took too long to respond
This tends to happen due to a loose wire or some issue with your router hardware. Such can occur due to prolonged usage and frequent power failures.
Try rebooting your hardware, your system, and try checking for any loose connections. If nothing works, contact your router’s manufacturer.
3. “I am trying to login to my admin panel for Xfinity. It shows the wrong SSID and logs me into someone else’s network. Comcast can’t help. What do I do?”
The issue arises due to Comcast using a single line split into 20 different areas. The best way to solve this is to:
- Disable the Wi-Fi on your device.
- Connect your PC/laptop directly with an ethernet cable.
- Type the router’s default IP address (which can be located by using the IP Config command in Windows/MAC)
- Now change the IP address. Ex: Your router may be involved in an IP address conflict, so better change it. If it was 10.0.0.1 earlier, now switch to 10.0.0.2
4. How do I access my Xfinity router settings?
You need the default IP address to access your Xfinity Settings. Depending upon your Comcast Xfinity router model, the default IP address can be https://10.0.0.1 or https://192.168.1.1 or https://192.168.100.1.
5. What is the default admin password for Xfinity router?
The default admin password for the Xfinity router is password.
6. How do I find my password for my Xfinity WiFi?
To find the default password, you can either see the box of a router or else if the password doesn’t match, do a 30-30-30 reset and then use the default password.
Once you’ve exhausted all these options, let us know in the comments how practical these tips are when it comes to addressing your home networking needs.
Thank you Jill ! ?

Por favor eu gostaria de auxilio para mudar o user name e a senha.
na pewno powiedz mi, jaki masz router
I am tried logging in but it keeps showing “Site Can’t be reached”
Most probably it’s not your router’s IP address then. Check this out: https://10-0-0-0-1.org/10-0-0-1/#1_10001_refused_to_connect_On_my_Xfinity_Router
I forgot the username and password of xfinity gateway login address 10.0.0.1. I checked it behind my router but didn’t find it. How can i recover it
Try resetting your router. You can read more on it here: https://10-0-0-0-1.org/10-0-0-1/#6_How_do_I_find_my_password_for_my_Xfinity_WiFi
Do you have any suggestions on how to change the xfinity router password?
Well there are a lot of IP addresses, to which you can switch over your router’s IP address like: 192.168.100.1, 192.168.1.254 and more
Thanks this login username and password did worked for me
Are Comcast and Xfinity the same thing? Had a little confusion. Is the router I am using is owned by Comcast or Xfinity?
Yes, Mustad. Xfinity is the new name of Comcast. They are the same thing 😉
Thanks for this informative article. it really helped me out : )
So I’m trying to set up my router and all of the websites i navigate to (including this one) load just fine, but the website to set up my router (http://10.0.0.1) and most importantly, password protect it, is not loading. It times out. Anyone else have this problem? Any suggestions/solutions?
Which router are you using?
If you aren’t able to access that default gateway then most probably. your router uses a different IP address
Thanks for helping out. I was stuck at the Xfinity login gateway. The post was useful. Can you please write about some of their latest models.
I need help changing my WiFi password
Yeah Sure Kyia. Which router are you using ?
Hey, I can’t log in into my router’s settings can you please help me out with it!!
yeah sure Madhur,
Try hard resetting your router. This will reset your router to the factory settings and the you can login witht he username: admin and password: password. To hard reset your router press the small button at the back of your router for 30 seconds
Thumbs up to this article. Helpful!
Thanks Jonas 🙂
Do you know How Can I port forward my Ip address ?
I cant seem to connect to 10.0.0.1, it just loads forever.I used to be able to access this but it won’t load anymore. When i reset (hold reset button for 5 seconds) my modem (SMCD3GNV) 10.0.0.1 works for a while, then forever loads the next day. I’m sure 10.0.0.1 is my default gateway and I can ping to 10.0.0.1 just fine. Whats wrong with my modem?
Hey, Hannah
Please try this solution: https://10-0-0-0-1.org/10-0-0-1/#2_Comcast_Default_Gateway_IP_10001_took_too_long_to_respond
I wasn’t able to figure out the correct username and password for the router but this article helped me. Thanks a lot!!
Welcome Diana 🙂
I have changed the password of my web management interface while installing the modem first time. Now I forgot my password.
How to retrieve my forgotten password or change that?
Hey Moreese,
Try resetting your router to the default settings. This will reset the login username and password to the default ones. Then you can login into the router and change the password again!!!
I seem to have lost the admin password to access my Xfinity router. how can I reset it? thanks
Hey man!
Press the small button at the back your router for 30 seconds. Wait for all the light to go down and then coming back up again. Once all the lights are up your router is reset to the default login!
I’ve been trying to log in to 10.0.0.1 to Port Forward for Steam, since my downloads aren’t actually downloading half of the time, and 3 or 4 days ago I accessed the log-in page extremely easily. It fixed my Steam, but now, I’m realizing Steam is once again not downloading properly. So, I went to log back in to my 10.0.0.1 to check if the port forwarding cancelled or something, and I can’t access it. All I get is a loading screen forever.
Hey man, that’s because your router uses a totally different IP address as it’s the default gateway. Try to login into different IP addresses like: 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.100.1
gateway ip is 10.0.0.1. unable to login to modem setup. Used Chrome and IE 11 both time out. http://10.0.0.1 won’t work but all else is working tv, phone, internet. Also it blocks Clash of Clans with phones (Galaxy S4) on wifi but not internet.
I am guessing that you already know that there is a sticker on the bottom of the device with the IP address, UID and Password. Or, that you can google the Make, Model and the word Default to discover the default IP, uid and pw.
If the default fails to get you in, then you need to reset the router back to factory defaults. To do that, disconnect all cables from the router. Ethernet, power, coax and USB. and depress the Reset switch in the little hole on the back of the router and hold it in the depressed state for a reasonable period of time such as 60 seconds to allow the capacitors to discharge.
Can antoyone tell me how to seperate channels so I can select which channel I want to connect to. Right now my gateway selects it automatically. 4.2ghz or 5ghz
Hey Rupnik,
Changing the wifi router to your desired channel, is itself a little bit technical and detailed. You can take help from Howtogeek: https://www.howtogeek.com/197268/how-to-find-the-best-wi-fi-channel-for-your-router-on-any-operating-system/ .
Hi folks,
I just had Comcast business internet installed in my place 5 days ago with the Cisco dual-band modem/router. However, since the beginning, I cannot access the 5GHz wireless network on any of my wireless devices (laptop, googletv, etc..). When I try to debug the issue, I cannot connect to the router via http://10.0.0.1 address in my browser (on the PC directly connected to the router with wire). The page keeps trying to load but gives up after sometime.
What could the issue be? Is this a defective modem/router? Even the Comcast installer could not get it to work at the time of installation and he said perhaps it had to do with my PC but clearly it does not seem to be.
Thanks for any pointers.
Hey,
If you are a Comcast business router user then the default gateway is http://10.1.10.1 . Try accessing 10.1.10.1 IP address you will for sure get the problem resolved
Hey i am using comcast business plan. Does my router so use the same default gateway as that of normal comcast users ?.
I tried acccessing 10.0.0.1 but it keeps showing site can’t be reached
